My whirlwind visit west was definitely one of those “Am I really doing this?” moments. I had such nerves about the appearance, it’s a wonder I got through it. I have never been on a talk show and I was worried about my ability to answer questions concisely and effectively. The style does not allow for multiple takes; you get one shot to answer the question.

So, I practiced talk points in my hotel while it rained cats and dogs in Culver City. The recitations calmed me a bit, but only a bit. Before I knew it, it was call time and I was whisked away to the hair and makeup chair. Though I can’t reveal much about the episode until closer to air (sometime in February during Sweeps month), I wanted to share some photos from the day.

The Culver Hotel was my kind of style. And don't think I didn't notice that awesome chandelier sparkling above my bed. Love me some chandelier!

I arrived at the hotel at 1 a.m. and crashed into the bed like it was my job. It poured rain throughout the night and the whole next day; the air was damp and I could never quite get warm. Good thing there was this fantastic fireplace in the super funky lobby.

I sat here for hours fighting the urge to lay down and snuggle up to the grate.

The studio set was a short walk outside the hotel. And with each step, I took deep breaths. That’s all I could do. I just kept thinking, “Go time, Keri. It’s go time.”

Is it wrong that I wished the number on the door was 227? That would have been so awesome.

No sooner had I dropped my bags in the dressing room than I was in the hair and makeup chair. One of the producers came in to walk me through each of the three segments I’d be in, while the hair and makeup team worked furiously on me. Did I mention it was pouring rain outside? Yeah, that does wonders for curly hair. Poor hair stylist. She more or less was taming my lion’s mane with a whip and an arsenal of clips and pins. And the makeup artist, bless her and her mad skills.

My dorky self portrait where I look oddly short despite my huge heels. But whatever. Ta da!

That’s it for now, folks. When I know the air date, I will surely share it here. And then, I will promptly freak out about seeing myself on camera because I make the WEIRDEST faces when I speak passionately about something. And I flap my arms and speak with my hands. Ugh.
