On Friday, Oct. 11, I made a quick trip to NYC to speak on a panel about representation of women and girls in media. The panel was hosted by UN Women, UNICEF, The Unstereotype Alliance and Plan International at the Japan Society on Manhattan’s East Side. And it was such a wonderful event to participate in and attend. I had received the request a week earlier after wrapping up an important meeting in Chicago for Pathways to Safety International (more on that later, I hope) and the invite almost made me teary. Every opportunity afforded me is a gift and one step further in the global fight to end violence against women and girls – something so near and dear to my heart.
